Love these. Wish they were a tad longer. I bought my prepregnancy size but I could have maybe sized up and been okay.
I'm an avid ultramarathon runner and was very disappointed in workout leggings I got from a major maternity retailer. Since that retailer specializes in maternity wear, I was dismayed that my pregnant running journey would be one full of chafing and discomfort. Then I saw a Senita advertisement on the 'gram and decided to test out a few items. Let me tell you...best decision EVER! This pair of shorts has gotten me through many many miles, chafe-free. My longest continuous run in these shorts has been about 14 miles, and they performed VERY well. These shorts are just as comfortable and good for running as my expensive brand name running-specific shorts! They stay in place, and the belly panel is nice and supportive without being restrictive. When I'm lounging around the house, I keep the belly panel all the way up and it doesn't feel restrictive at all, even when I am hardcore relaxing on the couch. When I go for a run, I usually flip the panel down below the belly, and it provide a little bit of extra support for the weight. I find that flipping the belly panel down when running reduces my round ligament pain a lot. When doing other workouts, I keep the belly panel fully up, and the shorts stay in place perfectly. I use the side pocket for my phone and my key when I run. I have an iPhone X in a very large otterbox case, and it fits perfectly in the pocket. It doesn't move around or chafe at all while running. I originally bought these in the purple eggplant pattern, and decided to treat myself to a second pair in green. I sweat a lot, so was worried about the solid color showing my sweat. Good news for my fellow sweaty ladies - no sweat shows through! I was very pleasantly surprised at this. I was also a little worried about the inseam length. My usual running shorts have a 7 inch inseam, so I was worried that the 5 inch inseam would cause chafing. I have thick thighs and sweat a lot, and have had bad experiences with 5 inch inseams in other brands (even running-specific brands). I'm happy to report that I haven't chafed at all in these shorts yet! We'll see how they fare in this department when the weather gets really hot, and my pregnant self decides to sweat even more. I have high hopes based on their performance so far that they won't let me down! Another note on the inseam length that I was concerned about - 5 inch shorts for me usually ride up, so I'm constantly pulling them down. These shorts, however, did NOT ride up much at all. I think I pulled them back down into place twice over a 14 mile long run. Pretty impressive! For reference, I ordered a medium. I am 5'5" and was a very thick-thighed and well-muscled 160 lbs pre-pregnancy. I'm currently ~180 lbs at week 26. I think the mediums will last me size-wise through the rest of the pregnancy. I will probably order another pair as the weather starts warming up just to have another pair in the rotation! I would LOVE to see these offered in another pattern!
I have been running everyday of my pregnancy and squeezing into my pre-pregnancy running shorts. Now at 6 months I finally decided to get some proper maternity workout gear, and I wish I had purchased these earlier. The length is perfect to prevent thigh rubbing and I much prefer the over-the-belly options as opposed to wearing shorts below my bump. I'm 5'6 and was 135 pre-pregnancy, now 150 and purchased a size M (black and ponderosa). There is plenty of room for my belly to grow and I probably could have gone with a Small but with 3 months to go, I wanted to make sure they would fit for the duration. Because if this, there is minimal belly support but it will improve as I get bigger. A few things to note: these shorts do make me pretty warm as opposed to my normal running shorts- that's because of the belly coverage. I'm going to have to move my runs indoors for the most part soon (I live in Fl) so it won't be as much of an issue in the A/C. Also I have a Samsung galaxy A20 with a mini otter box which is a fairly small phone, and the fit in the pocket is tight. The pocket would not fit many of the phones/ cases I see today. Lastly- I cannot go commando in these as the seams in the gusset are a bit irritating. All that being said- I got on here to purchase more pairs and will probably wear these exclusively for my workouts for the rest of my pregnancy.
i love these and will wear them my whole pregnancy. they are supportive and make running so much easier. i feel like they run a little big but that leaves room to grow. my iphone 7 fits fine in the pockets.
I absolutely love these shorts. They are both extremely comfortable and highly functional. Pregnancy can already be a hard feat, so anything that makes my life easier is a blessing! I’m very pleased, and would definitely recommend.
